I'm thinking of getting the iPhone on a 24 month contract but its $56 a month or £35 a month here in England (just though I would put it in $ as most people use USD on here.)
Its the cheapest I can find on the net because all iPhones are locked on the 02 network in England ...
They offer a free 8 gb iPhone 3g with 600 mins and 500 text per month for £35, plus free wifi/internet.
What do you think ?
And whats so good about the iPhone ?
Any comments welcome good or bad.

Get a real phone instead.
You wouldn't use the internet that much considering you already have a computer / internet connection.
And the rest, you can get that on real normal phones.
Just my opinion though.

I don't get this hype about iPhones.
Do what Strathe said, get a real phone.

Hm, i've got an LG, but i don't use it that much for music/videos.
Only on rare occasions.
Get something worth like $50, that should do it, as long as it doesn't look
gay/old.

Get something like the LG arena, Samsung Omnia, Samsung(?) UltraTouch
They all have sort of the same features as the iphone but they're cheaper

iPhone is superior in the sense that it has an "App for just about anything" as they put it, which is a strong selling point. Then, you also have the style factor, it looks amazing, sleek, trendy, whatever you want to call it.
Coincidentally, I'm buying the same contract as you in a short while, £35 a month, which is almost a necessity for me because I use my phone to text so much, 500 just about covers it. As for the minutes, they're just a bonus.
Now, the people who say you won't use the internet much, that's completely opinionated, you don't know how he lives his life, you don't know if he would use it or not. I for one certainly would use it, during school, when I'm out and about, maybe to check my e-mail, who knows. The iPhone is just an all round media phone that may be the same as the others in many aspects, but surpasses them in with an equal or higher amount of bonuses. That being said, I, too do not know how you live your life, but the iPhone is what I would recommend seeing as £35 a month for me (age 15) isn't a lot of money.

£35 a month is not the problem with me really.
Its the 24 month contract that I don't like.

Get an iTouch then, no contract at all, much cheaper than the iPhone, can do everything an iPhone can but call (it can text for free as well)
Also, just get a cheap phone. A phone should really be used for calling people, but if you want a multi-purposed phone (instead of buying a camera/screen recorder) and don't mind the price, then here:
Samsung Memoir
Epic win. I have one, no problems, quite light, 8-Megapixel camera, touch screen, fast graphics, cheap for what you get (only $200), built in GPS, MUCH better than the iPhone. Has a speaker and comes with a 1GB SD card (I got a 4GB to fit some music and more photos). Great phone!

LG and SAMSUNG are so limited when it comes to costumizing stuffs, i would rather suggest Sony ericsson, or a nokia. I would also suggest a phone price range 100-150usd, even though my nokia 5800 cost 300usd.
Ask if you get the iphone unlocked or not, if its locked its not really worth it.
You might consider getting a nokia 5800, alot of reviews says its a iphone killer, whatsoever it has the same aps as the iphone.

| iPhone is a real phone. Infact it is superior than most phones. You cannot say that iphone sucks if you have never used one and no, playing around with one for a couple minutes doesn't do it. True it may be a bit more expensive than other phones but it's revolutionary. You can do about a thousand times more stuff on the iphone than a regular phone.

1.Size? who cares, the iphone is still widescreen and is a good size
2.Weight? Right because the intense weight of an iphone will crush your bones
3.Screen Resolution - Just because iphone has a different resolution doesn't make it a inferior product
4. Storage -16g is enough for anybody, sure the Nokia has micro SD cards which of course is an advantage
5.Input Methods - lol'd hard at this. Nobody wants to use a stylus, the finger is the best method for as the iphone has multi-touch capabilities.
6. Features - the new iphone 3.0 firmware has cut and paste not to mention the thousands of apps available
7. Colors - iphone would look stupid in any other colors, black and white are good colors and I haven't heard any complaints.
8. Battery - thats a lie, iphone can actually do 36 hours of music which is 1 more hour than nokia
9. Camera - you can jailbreak the iphone to get every camera option you would ever need
10. Video Calling - true, iphone can't do video calling so that 1 point for nokia
11. Video Recording - you can jailbreak to get video recording
12. Music Service - lets be serious, nobody uses music services, you rip music off of the internet, so no points for either phone.
13. Voice Dialing - 3.0 firmware for iphone
14. Voice Recording - what the hell are you talking about, there are hundreds of voice recording apps for iphone and ipod touch.
15. Web Browser - the best phone browser ever as it supports multi touch gestures (it is a full browser not some baby one), you can get flash if you jailbreak your phone.
16. FM Radio - hundreds of radio apps for iphone
17. Bluetooth - there are apps for file sharing, don't know about bluetooth though
18. Messaging - I don't know how old this article is because many of these are possible now.
19. Price - this is lulzy, nokia is $385 compared to the $199 iphone. they go on to say that an unlocked iphone costs $800. LOL. you can both jailbreak and unlock for free you morons.
20. Experience - iphone is an amazing achievement. The idea of a multi touch phone combined with literally hundreds of thousands of apps is unbelievable.

Also jailbraking voids the warranty, have fun once your iphone breaks somehow. Also nokia 5800 is 300usd unlocked, no 2years contract like the iphone which end up at around 800usd after 2 years. Anyways, i enjoyed saving alot of money by getting myself a nokia 5800.
You get what you pay for if you would get a nokia 5800. The iphone right now is overpriced, not to mention it comes locked.
