Well it encountered an error, thats not very specific is it.
See if you can get a log file out of it, of view technical info on why it failed.
Don't discount you're drive been faulty or the download been corrupt. I assume you downloaded it. |

The only way to get it is by downloading; it's free from Microsoft. _________________

The express edition is.
The others like enterprise etc obviously are not.
And no mate, I could walk into PC-Worst right now and get a copy... |

Unless its part of studio.
I see he stated that its the express edition he is using so I wouldn't have been wrong in saying that it was downloaded. |

Yes, I know, but then he would be asking for help with installing Visual Studio.
I don't think you can get it without downloading it, which would mean you weren't assuming. _________________

I think it's safe to say he downloaded it since he told us he downloaded it. _________________

Well, actually, I've had the same problem as the OP. I never found out to fix it, but it worked after I reformatted. _________________

Try saving the setup.exe file to your C: directly, and then running it.
If that doesn't work, leave it on the C: and make a new user, sign onto that, and try installing it from the new user's account. If that works it should be accessible through the programs list in the other account as well. _________________

No, it is a Microsoft Visual Studio Solution project file...
Try right-clicking the setup and doing 'Run as Administrator'. _________________
