This is what I came up with (prices were from late october, prices may have changed since then)
Raidmax Smilodon Case with 500W PSU
http://www.amazon.com/RaidMax-Elite-Smilodon-612W-supply/dp/B000MXVDKQ/ref=sr_1_1/105-1192119-6567663?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194295888&sr=1-1
Current Price: $90 (S&H ~ $20)

Biostar TForce Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813138082
C/P: $57

EVGA 8800GTS 320 (Video Card)
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NGIDIM/ref=nosim/?tag=dealtime-ce-feed-20&creative=380333 (Better: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NGNRV0/ref=dp_cp_ob_title_1)
C/P: $287 (plus $20 rebate) & free shipping

Western Digital 200GB Hard Drive
http://www.amazon.com/200GB-Caviar-Sata-3-5IN-300MB/dp/B000Q842XW/ref=sr_1_4/105-1192119-6567663?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194296074&sr=1-4
C/P: $77

X2 5000+ Black Edition (Processor) & A-DATA 2GB (RAM)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCombos.aspx?Item=N82E16819103194&SubCategory=343&SortField=0&PageSize=10&Page=2
(third listing w/ pink ram sticks) EDIT: I don't think the combo's there anymore... Here are the individual products:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211066 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103194&Tpk=x2%2b5000%2bblack%2bedition
C/P: $170 (both)

Optional:
(LG DVDR (DVD Drive)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827136117
C/P: $2Cool

Estimated Shipping costs: $28

Total Cost of Known Prices: $707.64 + DVDR/CDR/Floppy

That hard drive is too expensive, you can easily find a 320+ for that price on newegg.

Switch the 8800gts to an 8800gt, they're more powerful and around the same price or cheaper.

It will be fine unless you have some plans for outrageous overclocking.

But that's exactly what the X2 5000 BE is for. Maybe I can save some money by switching that out for a cheaper X2 4800?

Or should I go for speed and buy a couple fans
I really wanna stay on the $700 budget though. Confused

Personally, I think dual cores are a little overrated, and their price range is a little much Wink

I suppose that's fair. Although I do think a fan + X2 5000 is better bang for the buck than a pricy dual/quad core.

the black editions dont come with coolers, so you'll need to get an aftermarket cooler, too.

and agu change it or i'll devour your insides.

Bah. Fine. Looks like I'll have to throw out the X2 5000 in favor of a dual/quad core.
I have no idea where to begin, though Confused

That was in my "optional" section
It's one of those things I may or may not add later. And the computer I have now has both, so there Wink

If anything, get a USB floppy drive so that you have one, but it's not directly in your computer all the time.
