For a while now I've been curious as to what would the best possible way to display dynamic text over a protected game.
So far the easiest and most effective way I've been able to think of would be to use the directX api and overlay the back-buffer with something like, the included, DirectDraw->DirectDraw Essentials->Surfaces->Overlay Surfaces function. But this would include writing something to define an entry point for a Dll, which I don't know how to accomplish.
I'm fairly new to directX so I wasn't quite sure, and most of the overlay tutorials relating directly to this topic are several years old making them useless with anything newer than directX 7->8.
Any Input or alternate ideas on how I could create a sort of in game UI would be greatly appreciated. With or without the use of directX.
Thanks,

It counts if you know of anyway to overlay text on the backbuffer. |
