| According to my research, using sudo to launch a GUI application (such as Cheat Engine) is not recommended. Therefore, I'm wondering what would be the best way to launch Cheat Engine as root as searching for this answer has so far gotten me nowhere.

you can use sudo to launch it but why do you want to?
CE runs fine without the need for constant root. Just one time to set ptrace_scope properly (and CE will ask you for that itself and does the terminal stuff for you in the background) but after that is done it's not needed unless you need to attach to a process running under another user

I'm not entirely sure if the process is running under another user. The game I'm trying to cheat is a Windows game running in Bottles, and I don't know enough about Bottles to know whether or not that process is considered "owned" by another user. All I know about the situation is that if I launch CE without sudo or root or whatnot, then the Cheat Table that I load has no effect on the game I'm playing. However, if I do use sudo to launch CE, then the cheat table works as expected. Is there a way I can cheat this Windows game without having to launch CE via sudo or root?
