|
|
I am continuing my efforts to use something like Stealth Edit on a game that recently added very sloppy and dangerous "anti cheat" garbage that attacks the computer. I seem to be stuck at a very odd place and hope you guys can help...
My understanding with StealthEdit is that CE 6.5 or 6.7 would be best to use for it. But I can't seem to find a good version of either.
Are older CE versions like 6.5 and 6.7 known to just be really glitchy, sluggish, etc...? What I mean is when you click or drag anything the GUI is slowly lagging behind and sometimes takes a couple seconds to respond. I have several other versions of CE on my system and all of them work instantly/fast. Only 6.5 and 6.7 have this problem, but I'm stuck with them for StealthEdit (as far as I know).
I've tried a couple different download sources for "old versions" of CE but 6.5 and 6.7 are all like this, so I think something might be wrong with the ones I keep finding and downloading even though they're from different sources.
Can anyone confirm, should 6.7 be delayed when you click/drag anything on it? Is that just how it is? I really don't remember it being that way before, and I've used 6.7 before.
If that's not how it should be, can someone point me in the direction of CE 6.7 that doesn't have this problem? I can't even compile 6.5 or 6.7 using source code because Lazarus has various errors, so I guess I need an already compiled version but preferably one that doesn't have the long lag/delay with every click.

It doesn't work for me in 7.5 or any recent versions. I'm using the right click options from in the disassembler. When I right click and select:
Stealth Edit This Page (whole module copy)(usermode)
It goes through the scan for a few minutes as if it's going to work, but the game still crashes. It also doesn't seem to be correctly coloring the original (blue) or the new copy (green) either in any recent versions I tried. I've tried several times w/7.5 and it is the same result. It works in 6.7, but 6.7 is SUPER sluggish and glitchy for some reason (from the moment I open CE, even before I do anything or run SE with it)
I'm still curious, is 6.7 known to be slow to respond to user input? Is this to be expected with 6.7? That's where I'm at right now is trying to figure out if this is just how 6.7 is. Or should it be as smooth and graceful as the recent CE?
And if it's not supposed to run this slow, where would the smooth version of 6.7 be found for download?

if the target is 64-bit I recommend small region only
as for slow 6.7, I don't know. it's very old so maybe your display driver isn't supported

Maybe I'm doing something wrong even though it seems like it works for me in 6.7? I wish I could "see" this thing working somehow in an example. The colors blue and green need to be present to signify it worked also, right? (original=blue, new copy=green)? This never happens in 7.5 for me, even with small region.
There was supposed to be a video showing what to do (in the original post on another site that has the download of SE) but that video of course got taken down by Youtube. Is there another video anywhere, or anything, maybe something with a lot of screenshots, that thoroughly goes through everything Stealth Edit does and how to do each step? ANY sort of visual help or assistance on this? I really need this to work.
Or, is there any other known solution for the typical "crash the game every possible chance" integrity checkers? Maybe something already exists, even if it's not through CE? This seems like a very low level anti-cheat that just crashes everything and acts the same as the ones in pretty old videos I found. I'm almost positive Stealth Edit is supposed to work on this but if there are other solutions (there must be, this seems like an old anti cheat style) I would definitely be willing to try them out.
EDIT: I've made some progress with 7.5! Using small region, I got a test to work how I expected, even though the colors are not changing to blue/green after it makes the copy. A few minutes later, it stopped working and I don't know why, but at least now I've seen CE 7.5 temporarily create the desired effect when I modify the new copy it made! Since then I've been getting it to work even better with a script, so it looks like I don't need 6.7 for Stealth Edit after all! :)
