Why do you think a modem has something to do with a BSOD? BSOD is usually isolated to what is literally on your PC, software, firmware, or hardware.
How close are these computers to each other? I postulate that they are near each other and your temps rise as you push the processors further and further, until hardware starts overheating and they crash. This is why overusing both at once results in a crash faster than just one at a time.
To rule out a faulty power supply, processor, or ram, run a stress test on your systems.
To rule out corrupted software, firmware, or drivers, update everything to its newest release.
Review your code to ensure you aren't causing it via a memory leak or something.
