I'm trying to find and change the amount of certain items in a game, but the value being static during a session and pretty simple (<10), I can't isolate the right value. However, some other item's counts can be freely changed and I am able to find those values quite easily.
My only guess is that by seing what accesses an item's value, I see what other values it reads, therefore finding every single other item's.
Only, I have no idea how this could be done. Has anyone got an idea how to do this ?
Example :
Item A amount is static and therefore I am unable to find it's value
Item B amount can be changed and therefore found in the memory
Item B's amount is accessed by Function A
By tracing Function A's actions, we see other read values, including Item A's
Right click value -> "See what instructions access this address"
Do some actions in the game (e.g. open inventory, hover over items, equip stuff...) and some instructions should come up.
For each instruction, go to it in the disassembler, right click it, and select "Find out what addresses this instruction accesses". Do some actions again and see what comes up. _________________
I don't know where I'm going, but I'll figure it out when I get there.
