Hi guys,
I'm new here and I jsut start my jurney at coding / reversing / hacking games.
And I've got a question about Cheat engine.
Maybe my understanding is totally wrong and I hope sbdy can explain it to me.
When I try to search for a pointer (e.g. health) I do it the follwoing way.
Preperations:
1. Start the Game and Scan for the Value (e.g. 100)
2. Get Damage, scan for new Value (e.g. 90)
3. Found the Value, add it to the Code list
4. Generate Pointermap, save it.
5. Close the game
6. Start the Game again and "inject" Cheat Engine into it.
7. Do every step from 1. to 6. again.
After I've got a few Pointermaps I select the active Address and do the "Pointerscan for this Address"-thingy and compare it with all the previously generated pointermaps.
The results are about 2.000 maybe more, maybe less.
Now I created about ~30 Pointermaps but there are still about 500 results.
My Question is the following: Am I doing something wrong or how can I find the right Pointer?
And one additional question:
When I use the "Find out what accesses this address" there is a value(?) called eax or ebx. What does this mean, I'm not sure what to do with that. If I'm correct I can find Offsets with that or am I totally wrong now.
Thank you in advance

between 3 and 4: check that changing the value actually changes it in the game
and yes, there can be multiple paths to the same destination. Inrecommend picking the path with the lowest offsets, or lowest offset values. (sort by offsets)
as for the code finder, try the CE tutorial

Okay, so if I have a Base address / Pointer
e.g.
Option A: blabla.exe+4DFCE + Offset 1(500) + Offset 2(ABC) + Offset 3(A2C) = 100
and
Option B: blabla.exe+4DFCE + Offset 1(500) = 100
I should choose Option B?
And one thing I would like to know:
I found a baseAddress / Pointer which was
blabla.exe+4DFCE + Offset (644) = 22 (Clip Ammo Gun 1)
then i just copied it and add it as a pointer and changed the offset to 684, so I've got the
blabla.exe+4DFCE + Offset (684) = 67 (Clip Ammo Gun 2)
Now my question is: Can I view the blabla.exe+4DFCE Address and in any way and guess what other offsets are the Clip Ammo for another gun or do I have to scan each gun?

Just try and see what happens.
CE won't crash the game if the pointers are wrong.
You can crash the game by writing into addresses you think are valid though.
