How do I cheat?

Hi, I'll try to keep this brief. In a game called [REMOVED] there is an exploit which allows you to bypass character limits as well as put line breaks into weapon names while renaming them.
The tutorial provided says the following:
"In order to get a line feed into a name/description tag, the memory of the game must be edited. It is surprisingly simple to do so; the name sent to the server is (at one point) stored as a utf-16 string that can be easily changed. This utf-16 string is stored when in the “Are you sure...” screen.You can tell which string is the one used for storing the name based on the amount of space allocated to it. If there are a large amount of null characters after the name, the string being observed is the one controlling the name."
Essentially it boils down to finding the UTF-16 string that has a large number of null characters after it, from my understanding. Now I'll be brutally honest, I'm not sure what that means, can anyone point me in the right direction on how to find the UTF-16 string?
You can either tear me apart for being new, or lend a hand which would be appreciated. Thank you!
