Think about how would you do this on a piece of paper.
Get a blank paper and note the first item.
Next line, note the next item.
When you paper is full, either wipe it or get another paper.
In code, the paper is some memory you'd have allocated (either free or reusable).
Then, you'll need some variables for housekeeping (for example, an index that points to the next free offset, the memory you allocated, the current and max. number of entries, etc.) - depends on implementation, really.
