Typical user error for just spam clicking through the installer without reading things or unchecking things.

there is nothing to "uncheck", and I still think it's scummy.

Like every other person that has come here to complain about this personal issue, you are just ignoring the fact that it is your own fault and blaming the software. Feel free to provide proof there is no way to opt. out of an option, but over the years none has ever been provided by any similar complaint because it doesn't happen.
Given that you claim 'there is nothing to uncheck' it helps provide us with more proof you didn't bother to read any of the installation pages. Not every offer is a checkbox to opt out directly, some require you to click a link to open a sub-form to opt out or expand more options which includes the ability to opt out.
