Hi,

I am just curious if you have any advice:

Running Windows 10 x64 atm with the precompiled CE Version DBVM and it crashes a lot of times.

I heard many times that Windows 7 is more stable and also compiling from source.

So: what are the things I can do to get the most stable DBVM experience? (no i am not able to make it stable by adjusting the source lol)

go to settings-debug settings and enable kernelmode debug. if it's grayed out, click on the button next to it to make it work and answer yes (read the warning)
then reboot (not shutdown and back on) and uninstall 6.8 (6.8 currently won't work on AMD but you need that Spectre disabling option)

then get 6.7 and try dbvm (note that there is a bug in the 6.7 dbvm that will crash 30% of the time, for each cpu. so if you can limit to 1 cpu that should increase your chances)

Yes it's more stable than on most other PC's I know. For example: I never crashed from just enabling DBVM (probably 100 times).

What helps me a lot:

When I debug an application with DBVM (kernelmode debugger) and close that application, there is like a 95% chance that dbk64.sys will cause a BSOD when i reopen the same application. I could fix that by just using the kernelmodeunloader and then reload dbk64.sys before opening the application again.

DBVM itself rarely crashes without me doing any action, it usually crashes when I try to attach the debugger (hw:bps). Also: I said 95% it crashes when reopen the same application, if it doesn't crash, I think it's 100% crashing when I try to attach a debugger then. Sometimes I get STOP_CLOCKWATCH_TIMEOUT BSOD random.

I have really no idea what's going on (what casuses these random crashes and that behavior overall).

Thanks for the tip with 6.8, 30% sounds a lot though, I have 6 cores/12 threads with DBVM if it's 30% for each core that would mean it's crashing for 95%... I don't think I am that much of a lucky person to expierience the 5% most of the time. Or do you talk about that it crashes for 30% at any time?
