Yeah completely agree, the only issue was that it wasn't just the moron who agreed to the app in this case.
The ambiguous permissions that were 'agreed' to allow the app to scrape the same data out of every friend of that friend. It's working like a super efficient virus - but instead of a virus, it's profiling 80M> people and choosing the most persuadable to effectively carpet bomb into a certain thought process.
It's common knowledge that if you click on a few items of Amazon / visit some sites the cookies are harvested and you get related links appearing on other websites.
I feel there's a fundamental difference between current advertising tactics and what seems to have happened in this case.
