Hi, today i tried Cheat Engine at my new Computer. Unfortunately not
for long, after activating DBVM -> Instant System Crash.
I tried this multiple times with the same result.
Looks like DBVM is not compatible with this new Processor.
Any Chance to fix this?
Any Idea what i could try to fix this?
I really like to use Cheat Engine at my new Computer but without DBVM it's just not the same.
Any help is welcome, thanks.
Here are some Infos:
- Cheat Engine 6.7 (x64)
- Intel® Core™ i7-7700K Processor
- GTX 1080 Ti
- Windows 10 (x64)

the more cores the more chance of crash, just reduce the amount of cores running from bios or from system configuration.
just type "msconfig.exe" or "system configuration" on start menu or run.
then go to boot tab and tick advanced options, make number of processors to '2'

Hi and thanks for the Help.
Reducing the amount of Cores actually works.
Here is what i have tried so far:
Manual Load DBVM...
Activate CPU0 = works
Activate CPU1 = works
Activate CPU2 = works
Activate CPU3 = works mostly but sometimes Crash
Activate CPU4 = Always Instant System Crash
Activate CPU5 = works mostly but sometimes Crash
Activate CPU6 = works mostly but sometimes Crash
Activate CPU7 = works
CPU 4 is the Main problem here, any Idea why?
Setting my Cores to MAXIMAL 3 works with DBVM.
But stil this is not an actual Fix, my old Computer is also using 8 Cores and i never had any Problem with DBVM.
Is it not possible to make it work with all Cores?
What does it actually need to fix this completly?
Bug Report:
By the way, i just found a little Bug with the "Manual Load DBVM"
Here two Examples:
Example 1(this is how it should work)
Open Cheat Engine
Right Click the 'About' Image
Right Click the 'Your System supports DBVM'
Click CPU0-CPUx to load DBVM manually (this is the actual bug because it will do nothing, no reaction, no loading)
Example 2(this is a workaround to make it work)
Step 1: Open Cheat Engine
Step 2: Right Click the 'About' Image
Step 3: Left Click the 'Your System supports DBVM' and say 'No' to the Messagebox
Step 4: Right Click the 'Your System supports DBVM'
Step 5: Click CPU0-CPUx to load DBVM manually (it will work now because of Step 3)

Installed Windows 8.1 and it works flawless, thanks for this.
The Problem is, Windows 8.1 isn't supporting the new Processor, which means no Windows Updates at all.
Sure there are workarounds for this Problem but yeah, i would stil prefer to use Windows 10.
Some Questions i have about this:
1. Why does it work with Windows 8.1 and not with Windows 10?
2. Is this something that can be fixed in the DBVM Source?
3. Is this something that will be fixed in the Future?
Would be for sure worth since the most ppl are using Windows 10.

Nevermind, problem solved.
Just tried Cheat Engine at a Friend who also has Windows 10 and i7-7700k and it has worked there without any Problems.
So, i assume the Problem is my Processor itself, which explains why it has issues to load DBVM at 'CPU4' and not the other ones.
Thanks for the help.

UPDATE:
After testing Cheat Engine at a Computer of a friend, i did some more tests at my own Computer and i think
i finally found the main issue of my Problem.
Here is the Result of my Test:
DBVM with ...
... Windows 10 Version 1607 = Works perfectly!
... Windows 10 Version 1703 = Doesn't work well if at all (atleast not with all cores and even with limited Cores, it still crashes sometimes)
This tells me, that the Processor itself is not the Problem.
To prove this even more:
- My Friend was actually using Version 1607
- My Old Computer is using Version 1607
- Only my new Computer had the Version 1703 and after reinstalling Windows 10 at my new Computer without the 'Creators Update(Version 1703)', DBVM worked perfectly.
So, it's probably more a compatibility issue between DBVM and Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Upate).
Creators Update is a pretty big Update and it's actually like a completly new Version of Windows.
I guess i have now the Answer that i wanted, maybe this Infos will help ppl with the same issue and maybe it will improve the compatibility
of DBVM in the Future.
