Yeah, I think unless someone magically figures this out I'll just leave it on the backburner until I have some actual familiarity with ASM.

Editing just to update:
Just for a little context, this is a game where I have a debug version which is unencrypted and I can access its database. What I'm trying to do in this thread is access the newer database which is encrypted and has newer/more content than the debug version.
Just out of curiosity, I replaced the debug version's unencrypted database with the one I'm trying to crack. It doesn't work, it gives me an assertion saying "File is encrypted or not a database", which I expected. However, I noticed in CheatEngine one of the strings says "FileDecryptionAuthFailure Tamper flag set." during this assertion.
Could this be a lead?
