I don't think it's a problem. Lots of companies do promotional giveaways on twitter. The keys can't be reused so there's not reason for it to be a problem.

It's possible to crack or datamine databases of premade keys that are intended to be handed out via promotion or made part of a bundle.
For example, DIRT 3 was being included as some sort of nvidia promotion a while back for buying a new gpu (I think, or some sort of bundle promo), and some 4chan genius managed to access their database of keys and pastebinned ALL of them.
Since they're considered "stolen" keys, they were ALL redacted within a few days.
I didn't have any punishment from steam, just had the game removed from my library.
I doubt they'd blame the key consumers when it's that large of a fuckup, but if it's legitimate keys being cracked and stolen from a third party store, which can happen, then they'll probably investigate and drop the hammer.
I always keep up on what's in the humble bundles so I know I can trust those keys. |
