I've noticed some friends at university using it, it got me wondering if this is something you'd see in a large amount of gaming households.
Are the number of downloads published?

But that is just one of many mirrors. The other ones do not track the downloads publicly
The installer (so excluding the noSetup build and those compiling CE itself) shows that Cheat Engine is installed roughly 2.5 million times each month (and pretty constant at that each month)

And make a demo version with horrible in-app purchases:
Only allow a next scan once every 5 minutes, or pay $.05 to do a next scan right now
Want to add more than 2 addresses in the address list? $10 per address
Speedhack. Speeds of 1.1* faster or 0.9* slower are free, but every 0.1 will cost you $.10 with a 50% discount at 1.0 and more
And want to use AA scripts that use more than 10 lines? Buy the full version!
