...except he is the one that talked to the police and gave false information about me. i only gave information not to get him arrested, which he wasn't, but to get him psychiatric care.

No, now you have a criminal record for a mental illness. Locking people in cages for mental illness is CRIMINAL. We need to start treating addiction as a mental illness, because that's what it is, on the DSM. It is statistically proven that childhood trauma/depression is linked to higher addiction rates in the future. It's got nothing to do with being a "bum" or a "loser". If you got the right help, that is, addiction counseling, NOT getting you hooked up on socially acceptable drugs instead (Big Pharma's benzos)
