American patriotism and nationalism is exercised by a group of people who feel they belong to the same community, are governed by law and enjoy legal equality.
In contrast, Eastern nationalism is ethnicin nature, breeding intolerance and ethnic hatred. Instead of feeling proud in your nation and wanting to make your country better, Eastern Europe has always took nationalism and used it as a tool to hate, and bog down other nations.
Put a family of Slavs, a family of Croats and a family of Serbs all in one room. What will you get? Bickering, fighting, and arguing over the fact that they are Slavs, Croats and Serbs.
Meanwhile, put a family of Americans, a family of Canadians, and a family of Mexicans all in one room, and you won't get bickering about ethnicities.
Patriotism and Nationalism are typically positive mentalities in America, while in your country, they are almost always destructive. |
I said that I hate patriotism and right-winged people. No matter what country. I hate those people that are saying "imigrants are stealing our jobs" , and yes that is also happening in the Croatia.
The thing with 2 families that will hate each other isn't true since a lot of families are mixed, made of Serbs and Croats. My uncle is married for a Serbian women and nobody really cares about her origin. Normal people don't care about that. Of course someone would be mad, imagine someone who lost their family in 9/11 to be next to any Muslim family...
