Eight weeks into my bulk right now. Lost visibility of my upper abs, sadly. Still it's a clean bulk so I can't really complain. | Weird time to start bulking. Then again, you don't have that much fat to burn so you should be okay to start late. Last year I hit sixpack-mode at the end of summer because I bulked a bit in like May because I decided I'm still too small. Want to actually have a sixpack this beach season, even if I miss out on a few months of bulk ;3 |
Well I started with my cut in June last year. Continued with that until the 6th of December, then went on a holiday for a month to Asia, and continued my cut until the end of January, where I hit 8.1% body fat. Then started my clean bulk. My fat percentage increase is minimal right now, and if all goes well I'll gain about a pound of pure muscle mass every four weeks. Then when may comes, It'll take about two months to shed the fat, and in August I should be golden. |
You sure you hit 8%?

That chart is misleading and must be extremely broad picture exaggeration because in this picture I know 100% that I was between 6-7% body fat because we had to be tested for wrestling season in order to be ranked in state.

Point being the amount of muscle mass accentuates the definition. The men in the top row all have a fair amount of muscle mass.
So yeah, I'm sure I hit 8.1%, I got it measured by my trainer with a body fat caliper who does it day in and day out. It irks me that everyone questions me when I tell them, because I'm not at the same level of mass... I mean shit, I work with professionals who know more than the average hobbyist.

Depends on the trainer, I'd imagine, but at my gym they will assign one to you at no charge. You can also consult with a staff dietician.

also not going to pay for the gym or a trainer. stuff i can do in my room with no tools. i just do pushups. started with 113 and worked my way up to 200 in a month 5-6 days a week along with situps. can do about 50 sit ups and can push myself to do up to 100 on meth but then my whole stomach is terribly sore and in pain and cant stretch the muscles for a day afterwards. |
Start a routine if you can for a daily set of the following
1. Pull up (If not able to, do chin ups)
2. Sit up
3. Push up
4. Bicycle Kicks
5. Alternating Crunches
6. 6 Inch leg lifts.
7. Hanging knee tucks.
If you need examples of any of these I'd be happy to provide a link.
Once you decide the ones you can do, do each one until exhaustion and write down that number. Try and add 10 to the number each week.

Ended up loosing 37lbs before my lifts started to really really suffer and I was feeling burnt out. Still obviously fat but the goal wasn't to get shredded or lean(although it was a hope which was crushed). You guys are running me into the ground aesthetically, but I'm focused on getting onto the PL team in UNI when I start this fall.
I'm 173 in the below pics. Starting a 15-20week bulk back up to 210ish. Hoping for a 600lb deadlift by the end of it, maybe can look into competing once I get there.
Forever strongfat

Bro, I can't even come close to competing with you. I mean a 600lb deadlift? holy shit. I was so damn proud when I lifted a 1RM 310 pounds two weeks ago. Respect. In terms of fat, meh. I can imagine if you were to go deeper into a cut it'd be gone. What little excess fat you have will probably burn off in a couple of months (assuming you don't do a crazy cut).

I really wish I could train with you, even one day. I could nearly guarantee you a 315 deadlift by the time we're done.
I know because I took my 165lb asthmatic friend who was terrified of the gym and had him deadlifting 315(hex bar, but come on, he didn't even have a month of training) for 2 reps in a couple weeks.
As far as the fat, it sucks yea, but I'm in a comfy place in my relationship and I'm generally just more positive and happy when bulking. I'm in the gym more, setting PRs more, cooking and enjoying my meals more, etc. I admire bodybuilders and am currently running PHAT just to get some hypertrophy work, but my current goal is just getting into PL competition shape and that unfortunately means I'll be out of shape for a while. I'll see how I look at 210, go up to 225 if I'm still comfortable with myself, then maybe start doing a much slower cut down.
