| For 2 days, I've been getting ridiculously high ping 400+ ms. My ISP refuses to cooperate as they say it's not of their concern. What could be the reason/how can I fix it ?

In order of importance:
Simply restart modem. -- See if resolved
Turn off / disable everything connected to internet but your computer, disable all background apps. See if improvement.
If possible, check if other computers are having ping issues. (With your computer turned off for good measures) Could be a software problem, driver issue, virus, etc.
If wireless: Try to move the signal-receiver around. Possible there is interference such as thick objects, metal, water(?) etc screwing the signal.
State how important low latency is and your willingness to change service providers (Despite the probable early-leave fees) if they do not help solve the problem. If they think they're going to lose a customer, they'll probably at least send a guy out to check for congestion.

What type of internet service do you have? Cable, DSL, Satelite, Mobile Broadband
This could have a lot to do with it unfortunately.
Is this the first time its happened?

| Must be related to your ISP, I've upgraded now... I had cheap internet and my ping was 200ms I now get 30-45ms (ping) in games now ^^

| Is your computer behind a router? If so this may be the cause; try adjusting the settings on your router's firmware page or even just connect directly to your modem to determine if its the problem.

Reasons for getting high ping value.
1.High ping is when there is high traffic in your system.
2.This can be either caused by loading such large files that the system cannot handle them, or by running several programs at the same time.
3.High ping is not just due to the bad internet connection. video lag, sound lag, virus, spyware, worms, or so on, could cause the high ping. not enough Ram could cause the problem too.
If you get any high ping ,try to lower your ping rate by using some of the following instructions.
1.Don't open any videos,stream and check if there any problem in your router.
2.Make sure there's no browser .exe's still running in task manager
3.Try to contact your internet service provider and get suitable data plan.
4.Use any software like Game Booster
5.Move closer to server
I am sure,if you follow the rules,you will get chance to reduce your ping rate.Finally you can check your new ping using
