on them on purpose. I wanted to try and practice a lighter to them. I had to set the cd on a perfectly flat surface.
I took a lighter on a CD with a deep scratch and the first time I must have held it too long since I warped it, the second time I gotten too close and damaged the data side. The third time I perfectly melted the fiber glass and the scratch is completely repaired. What other uncommon techniques besides tooth pastes, polishes, and cd buffers have you guys tried?

I agree with gogodr. Either use cloud or get USB since its much more secure than CD/DVD.
I actually don't have CD/DVD drive. The old one broke .

My point. USB flash drives are dirt cheap now and way better then CD/DVD/Bluray
More Memory , More uses , Smaller, Cheaper, Faster, Dont need a reader/writer.

Yeah only thing I use my Blu-ray drive for is watching movies and installing games (it's faster than downloading imo). For portable storage, USB drives are the way to go hands down.

Yeah, my working CD drive is just lying in my drawer because it was only making my laptop heavier.
CD/DVDs do come in handy for movies and music. It's way easier to play a movie on a DVD player than hooking up a computer to a TV (especially if you're going some place they don't have a laptop/HDMI cable and you have to bring your own).

you can get an USB key for 2$ |
CDs/DVD/Blueray were the best medium for a long time, and still are in the most important aspects. I haven't bought a CD that wasn't a game in a long time. Last CD I bought was a Skrillex album in 2012. Still, I don't see CDs losing their spot as the most cost effective medium of transferring local data anytime soon.
