For some reason I appear to be missing about five gigabytes. I tried defragmenting already not sure what else it could be.

format your hdd and reinstall OS.

my OS isnt on this hdd this is my second internal hdd that i only use to store .flacs

The size of an HDD is sold as 1000MB = 1gb, but an HDD is actually 1024MB = 1gb. Your space is all there, you just dont understand marketing.

That's not the point; if you look at the images you can see all the files highlighted taking up 31.9 gb. You can also see the disk highlighted in Computer in which it states that 37.2 GB are used up. 5.3 GB are missing and it is not because of the marketing when it was sold.

It is being used by pagefile by chance?
Start -> My computer properties -> Advanced System Settings on left -> Performance settings button -> Advanced tab -> Change... button

Turns out paging was on for the HDD im having issues with, however disabling it didn't fix it, even after I restarted my comp. Its a pretty old hdd so that may be the problem.
