stands for instruction set simulator
this might sound a little wired but do you guys know any good iis for x64 or x32.
some sort of calculator that tells you exactly what the instruction does.
something like a step into in ollydbg but not a debugger, some application that will show you the stack, fpu, registers and all that kinda stuff before and after the execution of the instruction so people like me can learn quicker and can actually understand assembler code they've never seen before, instead of searching the net over and over to find some good explanation.

thanks.

Short of actually doing it yourself? http://faydoc.tripod.com/cpu/

Also, for bitwise operations you may find this useful.

i have found something better but i was actually looking for a program that you execute, it asks you for a code then injects it into it's process, executes it and at the same time debugs itself before and after the execution of your code and then shows you the result like ollydbg does or like the tracer in cheat engine.

here's a better link

[edit]
reverser calculator is good, but win7 calc does it as well Smile

You can also do that with ce
First attach to the tutorial
The go to memoryview
And click tools->allocate memory
go to the newly allocated memory, set a breakpoint at the first spot (or a break and trace breakpoint if you like)

Then type your code there
When done, click tools->create thread and it will break (or trace) there and you can then see exactly what each instruction does

It does require the debugger though

it's a lot of work, but i must say, it works perfectly, just what i was looking for
at the end of the code, i placed a jmp to thread start or else it stops working, an int 3 will also make it go nuts.
is there an instruction that sops the thread execution ? or that at least pauses it.

thanks

this will freeze the thread
Code:

db eb fe

alternatively:
Code:

push 0
call RtlExitUserThread

But you will then also go through the thread exiting as well
