I play a lot of games. MMO's, shooters, etc...
And I still have yet to find a legitimate use for macros and extra hotkeys and shit.
only extra buttons I like on a mouse are the dpi controls, because I find them very useful in shooters.

using your mouse fingers to do keys like those is pointless, you're sacrificing some control when you use your thumb to click a button, while you could easily use the hand on the keyboard to do the same thing but more efficiently
I agree that the dpi can come in handy, and so could the prone button I guess.
maybe its cool for people that only have 1 hand

I agree if we're talking fps, but for rts and moba it's entirely different.
Your left hand has to cover have qwer-df, the f keys, tab, alt, ctrl, etc. while your right hand has to pretty much right/left click constantly for an hour straight.
There's no time to be moving your right hand to the numpad to activate items, especially when you need them most.
Right now I have all my items bound to 1-6 above the letters, but I'm always hitting f2 on accident which selects the courier and then I'm pretty much dead because I can't control my hero.
If I had a six key pad on the thumb side of my mouse I would be happy as a vagina.

I have long fingers. I can hit all 3 on the side of the left click and still have enough to fire my gun with the left click. Also the side buttons don't hinder. My thumb doesn't do anything anyway. I palm grip so I move the mouse with my palm alone.

i dont know how anyone could possibly palm grip, i guess people like you exist, ill just never understand, i feel like a retard if I hold my mouse that way
