if you're talking about 1200 being the equilibrium
1150~1250 is about the 40% mark for elo; roughly half of the players and / or the 'middle ground'
if you're talking about elo hell, i still believe elo hell doesn't exist.
when i say elo hell i mean people complaining that they are good but always get "shit teams" and thus they're stuck
this is false because if you're truly above that elo, you should be able to carry your team. (both through playing carry-roles and managing objectives)
additionally, mathematically, elo hell doesn't even make sense, because assuming that you are good, the enemy team has a 5-person chance to have bads, where as your team only has 4 chances.
ultimately, usually the person crying 'elo hell' is part of the problem.
'elo hell' is just an excuse for bad players to shift the blame and thus continue to be bad themselves.
p.s. just to clarify, the 1200-average remark was not an attack on you; it was a generalization. assuming you simply did just have 'bad placement matches', i believe you will certainly be able to get above 1200 in time. |
Just noticed the p.s. so I'll rewrite my post. I agree with you for the most part. I'm too lazy to type any more so I'll just say this: Yeah, I had bad placement matches, then a few bad games after that (not all my fault, not necessarily my team's either). Recently though, as I said, I've actually been winning a few, and will probably be >1200 soon. I know for a fact I belong at least there or higher. I'm sorry for doubting you.

ye; no worries mate.
my remark was more aimed at the people with like 1000 ranked games played and blame it on being 'stuck in elo hell because of shitty teammates'. basically if you've played over 1000 games, refuse to try and improve, and think it's always your team's fault, you are most likely part of the problem.
