I dunno, I played with sterling and dalton and didn't do as well as I thought I should have because the lack of runes/masteries fucked me over hard. You don't realize how much they help you until you don't have them hahaha. I still was the only positive one on the team I think, but I should have been able to carry. I was playing Ashe.

Also not quite but basically elo hell exists in the sense that bad players that refuse to proactively improve (and wonder why they're still 1200, lol) are elo hell. When you get paired with these players (typically outlined by 500+ games and still 1200 elo), it's basically some twisted version of a definition of elo hell.

tl;dr: Elo hell is just bads being bad and can't not get badder.

Most players don't know what the fuck they're talking about though.

This. Some players just refuse to try. For example, just played a ranked game. Bot was losing, but hardly. Ez was 0/2 vs a vayne because mumu kept ganking. I know, shouldn't be too hard as an Ez, but he failed.
So, his support decided to afk. "OMG U NUUB I AFK. GG GUYS"
I should mention, I was 5/1/3 mid and top was 6/0/something.
So, we lost. Jungle decided to not play anymore "Blitz afk anyways", Ez was bad anyway.
We were still winning teamfights, but you can't stop 5 people with 3.

elo hell wouldn't make any sense to begin with considering the enemy team has a higher chance of having bad players, assuming you belong at a higher elo. it's just mathematically impossible. _________________

i think they're referring to elo hell as their really shit teammates dragging them down to a Defeat regardless of their impact on the game

if you're talking about 1200 being the equilibrium
1150~1250 is about the 40% mark for elo; roughly half of the players and / or the 'middle ground'

if you're talking about elo hell, i still believe elo hell doesn't exist.
when i say elo hell i mean people complaining that they are good but always get "shit teams" and thus they're stuck
this is false because if you're truly above that elo, you should be able to carry your team. (both through playing carry-roles and managing objectives)
additionally, mathematically, elo hell doesn't even make sense, because assuming that you are good, the enemy team has a 5-person chance to have bads, where as your team only has 4 chances.

ultimately, usually the person crying 'elo hell' is part of the problem.
'elo hell' is just an excuse for bad players to shift the blame and thus continue to be bad themselves.

p.s. just to clarify, the 1200-average remark was not an attack on you; it was a generalization. assuming you simply did just have 'bad placement matches', i believe you will certainly be able to get above 1200 in time.
