Actually technically there is because "drug addict" as a broad term is the mental disorder they keep trying to explain to you and "being addicted for a period of time to a single substance" is just getting caught up for a bit _________________

They are same fucking words in a different order.
Drug addict. Person who is addicted to drugs.
And a drug addict is not a broad term. When you think of drug addict you think of someone who does fucking drugs _________________

Thats not what its saying, im going to repeat myself again and then explain it to you.
you clearly dont understand what fucking words are, and their definitions.
"the person is unable to control the aspects of the addiction without help because of the mental or physical conditions involved"
do you know what this sentence means? apparently fucking not, because your reading comprehension skills are SO low you're on the verge of being illiterate.
it is say they are unable to control PARTS of the addiction, not the entire thing, or some different entity, PARTS of the addiction, parts of what defines the word addiction, as in:
they are unable to control their urge to keep using
why?
because there is mental or physical conditions involved
so the person is unable to control their urge to keep using, possibly because they have a physical dependance on the drug or they are mentally unkempt to stop using, which happens when youre addicted to something.
when you break the sentence down and READ it its very clear what it means, ASPECTS of addiction are the things that addiction is made out of in its definition, and when all those aspects come together, it has a word used for it, called 'addiction'
do you understand why we use certain words kyle? so that we may communicate long broad subjects with different parts, very specifically to each other so that we may understand what we mean much simpler. but because you cannot grasp this, I post the definitions, in hope that you would be able to read them and figure out why your use of the word was wrong, but apparently you cant. |

If you are saying that these people can't handle certain aspects of addiction, then why the fuck are you calling them drug addicts? It's clearly not a fucking problem of addiction. It's a fucking mental issue Of self control. Not drug addiction. Addiction is something that anyone can overcome, this is a mental condition. Not addiction. Maybe when you say that you use certain words to describe things, why don't you come up for a new term for people who have no self control when it comes to addictions. It's obviously not a problem of fucking addiction, and I hope that's crystal clear. What you're saying about drug addicts has nothing to do with addiction. It's self control problems. Drug Addicts can get over their problems. People with mental deficiencies can not. _________________

ADDICTION IS A MENTAL ISSUE. if it wasnt, it wouldnt have the fucking definition that is does, if addiction isn't a mental or physical issue, and is just someone using a drug regularly then its called a fucking habit.
addiction is NOT something anyone can overcome, because the DEFINITION of the word is that it is VERY difficulty for someone to overcome it, you want to know what the word is for people who have self control when using drugs regularly? its HABIT
these words exist, you just dont know what they mean. |

BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW WORDS, it says its COMPULSIVE which is a MENTAL CONDITION and it also says "physiological symptoms" PHYSIOLOGICAL, HAVING TO DO WITH THE BODY
well there we go, addiction can either be MENTAL or PHYSICAL disorder
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/compulsive
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/physiological
http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/drug-abuse-addiction
"Drug addiction is a chronic, often relapsing brain disease that causes compulsive drug seeking and use despite harmful consequences to the individual that is addicted and to those around them. Drug addiction is a brain disease because the abuse of drugs leads to changes in the structure and function of the brain. Although it is true that for most people the initial decision to take drugs is voluntary, over time the changes in the brain caused by repeated drug abuse can affect a person's self control and ability to make sound decisions, and at the same time send intense impulses to take drugs."
it seriously cannot get ANY clearer. |

That is the only thing you've posted that has made sense and actual explains what you were fucking talking about. This entire time you were saying it was a mental disease without a good explanation. But it does not state that it's impossible for a fucking drug addict to be relieved of this issue, only that it AFFECTS a persons ability to make decisions. Not destroys it You still have ultimate control it just takes the willpower to do it. _________________

of course its not impossible, no one ever said it was, and Im sure I made sure that I was not saying that, it is difficult to overcome, thats why most people are forced to by going to jail and still most often relapse. intervention, they have the person doing their actions in front of cameras, making them more aware of the situation they are actually in, and then are brought in front of their family and a professional helper to send them to a place where they can get even further help, some people find god, and if you actually believe in it and devote yourself to that, a higher power can help you too, but the amount of people who sat themselves down, by themselves, and decided that the choices they were making were just wrong, and then went cold turkey, are so astronomically low that they are not even worth mentioning.
people with addictions need help, but the most help that can be given is preventing it from even beginning. and this doesn't judge the persons intelligence, just how experienced they are. many kids who grow up in the ghetto that don't become drug addicts actually experience the things around them, the negative effects it can have, and it usually steers them clear of continuing to do such things, dustin was just a rich (compared to me) indian kid in california with a curiosity, and his intelligence couldn't get him out of that, but that doesn't mean that his intelligence was lacking, it just wasn't fit for the situation.
and as for you, you were able to stop your problem before it actually became an addiction, you were able to rationally see that what you were doing was becoming a bad problem, and was able to stop, because your judgement was not being effected from the excessive use of hard drugs. |

So my point is not wrong. my point was, is that if you are smart enough about what you are doing and have enough willpower, you can get over addiction. Drug addiction. as a drug addict. It is not impossible and it's the only way it works, whether you find god, figure it out yourself, or you go through rehab and decide finally, hey its not a fucking good idea to do drugs. Why are you continuing to tell me that I am wrong. there is not a thing wrong with what I am saying _________________

this was your original point
| GannoK wrote: | | Brolock wrote: | it was a joke, kyle you have fucking autism
more distinctly, the joke was "-everyone in this thread" as a QUOTE , Im joking saying that everyone is saying that smart people cant get addicted, which is false. |
I wasn't saying smart people cant be addicted. I am saying smart people can help themselves, all you have to do is just realize youre addicted and not be so much of a dumbass and keep doing it. any other argument is retarded, you should learn how to control yourself if you can stop doing it, otherwise ur a domass |
do you see how much different it is than what you've posted now, it seems your vocabulary and understanding of it has grown since your original point, which is a clusterfuck of contradictions and ill-thought out remarks about how smart people can just stop being addicted because they realized that they are doing so. that is why I pointed out your use of the word addiction was wrong, now that you have a better understand of it, and have worded yourself correctly, cant you see that the word that would have been more fitting for your sentence would have been habit?
here let me replace addiction with habit for you in your quote

Except it still works with the word addiction. it is possible for smart people to just say, this is fucking stupid. i need to stop and start controlling my body. and what I meant by "if you can stop doing it" i didn't mean the psychological ability (which is what I think you are thinking I meant), I meant the physical opportunity to walk away. _________________
