Isn't it weird that aside from the Hollywood premiere, 'The Avengers' hits the cinemas in the Netherlands over a week earlier than it hits cinemas in the USA? They even have to make subtitles for us dutchies, and I believe Germany is even dubbing all their movies (not sure why they do it, but Germany has always been odd). Does anybody have the foggiest idea on why this is? Does it have something to do with how the USA will rate the movie, and that this would affect sales in Europe or some shit? That's the vaguest thing I could come up with.

| Hollywood premiere is to build hype. America is all about ratings for tv shows and sales for movies where its all about sales in most other countries. So yea, its hype.

The US is probably the largest consumer of movies, so I wouldn't be suprised if they would play with the date to avoid competition from other hyped up movies.
