Really? That's a cool statistic you pulled right out of your ass.

@Brolock, no no no not at all. For one, it's hard enough for manufacturers to fit everything they have to fit on a normal ATX motherboard with just one socket. To fit two you'd have to get rid of half of the motherboard's features. Additionally, it's twice the power usage, while hardly really increasing performance over just one core. You lose so much performance per watt.

So yes, it's weird as fuck that it's in a Mac, but note that it's in a Mac Pro, as in their bigass fucking box they call the most powerful desktop computer in the world (which just plain isn't true).

Well, I shouldn't say it's weird. It makes perfect sense considering Apple.

Out of my ass. Not necessarily slower in everything, But it has a lot more cores than an i5-2500.
This is why I stick with Intel.

To test the processors performance during data archiving we resort to WinRAR archiving utility. Using maximum compression rate we archive a folder with multiple files 1.4 GB in total size.

We use Apple iTunes utility to test audio transcoding speed. It transcodes the contents of a CD disk into AAC format. Note that the typical peculiarity of this utility is its ability to utilize only a pair of processor cores.

We measured the performance in Adobe Photoshop using our own benchmark made from Retouch Artists Photoshop Speed Test that has been creatively modified. It includes typical editing of four 10-megapixel images from a digital photo camera.

We have also performed some tests in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 program. The test scenario includes post-processing and export into JPEG format of a hundred 12-megapixel images in RAW format.

The performance in Adobe Premiere Pro is determined by the time it takes to render a Blu-ray project with a HDV 1080p25 video into H.264 format and apply different special effects to it.

We estimated the video editing speed in Adobe After Effects by measuring the time it took to apply a combination of filters and special effects such as blur, bulge, color key, frame blending, glow, motion blurring, fading, 2D and 3D manipulation, shadows, echo, median, radial blur, invert, etc.

The 2500 only beat the 8150 by a considerable amount in two of them, for all the others they were practically neck and neck.

Also, look up any multithreaded benchmark, the 8150 destroys everything, including the i7 most of the time.

Additionally, the 8150 is a whole lot cheaper than an i5 when you take into account the processor itself plus the motherboard.

The 8150 has twice the physical cores.

Who cares how many cores it has; the end result is the raw performance.

Yeah bro, heaps cheaper.
A whole negative 70 dollars... oh wait...

The tests I showed were real world tests. Not benchmarks.

Edit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=lga+1155+motherboard&x=0&y=0

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=am3%2B+motherboard&x=0&y=0

10-15 dollars difference on motherboards on average with the same specifications.

I would like to see it's overclock performance, mind you.

You ran those benchmarks personally?

what a fucking retard
Macs with 12 core xeon cores are stupid because thats a server core with less power than a quad phenom.

Am I reading this right, your charts are measuring in Seconds? Won't that make the AMD FX the slowest out of the bunch?
