Equations that I am thinking are from CANADIAN HIGH SCHOOLS FROM GRADE 11.

OFC the user would have to enter values such as X Y ETC but then the program would solve the equation, spit out each step so the user can see, and finally show answer.

But brackets go inside parenthesis, so it's BPEMDAS. Anyway basically he wants you to make wolfram alpha.

Looks pretty interesting.

My first few versions will be pretty simple. All equations will be typed according to a few rules, just so I can get the arithmetic operations working correctly. After that, I'll look into having it recognize handwriting.

It doesn't. It generates a parser and lexer for any grammar you specify. You can just give it the rules for your expressions and it'll correctly tokenise them and shit. I wrote a compiler with this before
