|
|
I bought a new mobo and CPU through newegg, and I correctly hooked up the system. However when I try to power it on, the fans spin and the HDD power up but I get no post beep. I only get a black screen because the motherboard doesn't display video.
I've tried the following:
*Boot with only CPU and Ram
*Boot with HDD+CPU and Ram
*Boot with everything
I'm not sure if its a MOBO or CPU problem but I get no beeps at all so if anyone can help me I would appreciate it very much. |

| Loosen the screws on the motherboard. Maybe you've screwed it too tightly in. Try booting it outside of the case. |

Did you use the backplate that came with the new motherboard? If not, you could have grounding issues preventing it from starting. _________________

I'll try that, I'll report if anything else occurs.
edit:Nope, I tried running the mobo out of the case with only the ram and CPU+
CPU fan but no dice. |

| If it doesnt post at all it could just be a DoA. Do you have another psu to use to root out that its not a power issue? |

Double check jumpers as well.
Also if you have a multimeter check the CMOS battery to see if its dead.
Other then that, ensure everything is seated properly and plugged into the proper cables.
If all else fails sounds like it is DoA. Return it before the warranty expires. You have like 15? days on Newegg to return it. _________________

Currently not at the moment, but I think I'm going to RMA both the CPU and MB. |

What are your specs?
For Intel, you need to install the ram away from the CPU first.
Make sure the pins on the sockets are not bent. _________________

check the cables: Perhaps you attached the harddisk led cables to the reset pins
Try removing all the ram except one stick
Try a different graphics card (or is it on board graphics?) _________________

| The problem was the Power Supply which had to be swapped, and before anyone asks me why I necroed its for future reference. |
