Anybody that needs to be taught how to use a computer shouldn't be on one is how I see it.
You wouldn't want a 12 year old driving down the freeway, would you?

How did they break? Same way a normal computer's hardware does, because you've done something wrong or because of faulty hardware (which is the same hardware as in PCs). I also like how you compared using and fucking a computer of your own up in your own household to driving down the freeway underage.

People can die.

There is no point in Cryoma arguing with me on these topics because amounts of money like that just have a different intrinsic value to me than it does to him. 1) Mac hardware is a ripoff, we agree on that.
2) We're ignoring the software because you can always replace it, we agree on that.
3) You don't care about the price, that's fine Mr. Moneybags.
4) You buy a Mac and never worry about maintenance? That's just about the biggest piece of bullshit I've ever heard. Maybe you've had a great experience but you can't go and generalize the entire industry based on that. Literally every Mac user I know encounters minor hardware issues (keyboard falling apart, dead pixels in screen, laptop cases coming apart at the seams) and severe ones (hard drive failure, dead screens, fried parts) at the same rate as competing brands. I personally know a Macintosh technician who has been the official maintenance repair guy for this area since Apple was Macintosh. His garage is a workshop dedicated to Apple parts. When people have broken Macs that they send in for repair, they get sent to him, he fixes them and sends them back. And there's no shortage of work, even though he only covers customers in Marin county, CA. So obviously it's false to say that you will never have a problem if you buy a Mac. And that's only discussing hardware, I won't even get into Mac OSX.
5) That being said, you're spending a $3000 difference on insurance for you computer alone. You could replace your custom build twice over with that amount of money. But you don't want the hassle of fixing things yourself, I guess.
6) I drive a Ford Explorer. I work on it too, just like my computers, and it gets decent MPG. I only use it to haul things, otherwise I bike everywhere. Because gas is hilarious and exercise is good and saving the planet is gratifying. So you drive a Ferrari, that's cool, Ferrari's are expensive because they are high quality and go faster than most cars. But you can't say that a Mac would be a Ferrari and my custom build an Explorer when we just clarified that Macs are pretty much terrible.
All in all you may be rich but you're a poor businessman to be throwing money away like some rapper in a music video.
I pity the fool. |
i told you we can't argue. when it comes down to it, it's only money (which you care very much about, and i care very little about). whatever i say you'll find stupid little anecdotes and deluded stories to talk back at me. i don't need nor want to convince/educate you nor do i wish to break your narrow closed mind to do so
i'm not trying to change your mind this time but pretend you're me for a second and you have my mindset. computer breaks, see if warranty is run out. no? buy a new computer. computer problems, call support or pay someone to fix it for me whilst i do something else. games? no. films, development? yes. starting to get the idea, sunshine ? the world is about needs/requirements and people that are willing to fulfil these. your requirements and needs (gaming, watching porn, cheap shit) are different to mine by far. until you can understand my requirements and needs (time is expensive and frustration over setting up dumb shit is unacceptable and i will happily substitute it with money) and you'll start to see my side. of course, as i said, you won't be able to, because you're still a poor little shit that sits in the corner with tyler. at the end of the day it doesn't give a flying fuck where i got my money, whether i'm even rich, whether i simply don't care about money, it's still only about needs/requirements. this is pretty much the fundamental axiom upon which society works. if you don't understand it you're going to be severely disadvantaged for the rest of your natural life
let's finally just agree on this. i'm a smarter, better looking, overall superior individual compared to you. you'd get your ass handed to you arguing me in real life so let's just skip the part where i sit down patiently and own you like a 5 year old, pretend we just finished that and you go back to the shut-the-fuck-up corner and spoon with tyler. the one question that's left ? ARE YOU THE BIG SPOON OR LITTLE SPOON ?

Ok so you have your opinion on computers and I have mine and each to his own, I totally am cool with that.
But you've gone and done the one thing in the world that I am not cool with (aside from harassing women or murdering innocent people etc.), and that's make an assumption.
You assume that all I do on my computer is play games, watch porn, and other menial tasks.
I never said what it is that I do on computers, other than play some games occasionally, so you have no right to get into this debate on a personal level.
And then you go and call me extremely stupid, extremely ugly, and extremely inferior, when you don't even know me or what I look like.
That's just not cool man.

About 1/4 of the total goes to the screen as they're $1k a pop, but they're not really ripoff since screen from other makers at that size with the
same resolution 2560x1440 are similar in cost. If you spend like a bit more, you can grab a 30" at 2560x1600
And that $2500 system is crap!

Just to throw my experiences with Macs in this thread: We have three people at our office who all have a Macbook Pro. Only one of those Macbooks ever broke, and it was because the guy threw a glass of water over the keyboard by accident.
The only software troubles I am familiar with on mac, is the fact that it's buggy with flash in any browser other than Safari. Seems like Apple doesn't give two shits about third party developers. Same goes for their software on Windows (iTunes).
All in all, you're trading ease for freedom when you buy an Apple product.
