Soooooo... I desperately need a new computer for many reasons, but thats another story. This being so, I figured the best way to get a decent computer without getting ripped off would be to build my own. Putting it together isnt a problem, finding the parts is. I know a bit about computer hardware but not enough to discern between the good and the bad/compatible imcompatible, aside from reading reviews that is. My current build comes out to be 854$ (790$ w/o tax). Any advice/ideas/etc. would be much appreciated.

The graphics card you will most definitely want to upgrade as yours is 2 generations old. What's your budget?

Dump the W7 as you can get it free and use the extra cash to get a better GPU.

Why would you get a dated motherboard and ram? Get a nice new motherboard, and DDR3 memory. 4GB DDR3 is $45.

Like I said I dont know alot about purchasing, thanks for the better build but where is the MB?(motherboard)

Oh and Gavin, I could buy a 1xxx$ computer but that would be pointless as I am going to college soon(ish) and will be buying a nice laptop then. In other words I wont be bringing my desktop
