you're generally allowed a "reasonable" amount of force for the situation. barring retarded laws / states, if you get into a scuffle wresting a gun out of someones hands to potentially save your own life and somehow through a bizarre twist of fate they end up dead then you are probably alright.

It's fine on the street. Did you not see the old woman destroying them guy's lives with her handbag? She got praised

It would be much different if it were a teenager and not an old woman.

I find it fine to kill a murderer.
I also find it okay to fine a robber.

It's not just to kill a robber or fine a murderer. That said, many countries forbid the first case.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but in Connecticut, self protection is not allowed at all.
Let's say someone breaks in, in the dead of night. He points his pistol at you and threatens to shoot you. Then, before he can react, you pull your trusty hunting rifle off the wall, and shoot him in the head, killing him instantly. You call the police, and police come into your house, handcuff you, throw you in a cell for the night, and the next day you are sentenced to life in prison on account of homocide. In theory, of course. One might ask, "What the fuck are you supposed to do, then?" The answer is, you let the criminal loot your house, rape your wife/daughter/girlfriend (choose all applicable) and then shoot you/both/all.

That sounds like the Netherlands. But here you also have to make sure the burglar doesn't accidentally strip over a wire or something lying on the floor, because he'll then sue you.
And not to mention that you're not allowed to scare him because of all the emotional damages you're inflicting then
Typisch links.

Different country different rules

Still, most robbers/ thief are homeless hobos that steal for their living, i will try to chase them off or call the police first (most thief will be scared and run if they see the owner)

If i do kill a robber though, i'd most likely take the chances to hide his body away and act like nothing happened

Well said. Material objects can be replaced... even things like precious photographs can have a price tag. I think anyone would give up their most precious photograph in exchange for a few million dollars. However, life is something that cannot be compensated for. A few million dollars would be fair, but it'd be hard to enjoy that money when you have lost someone that you cared dearly about.

That's why it is only okay to use non-deadly force against non-deadly force, and deadly force against deadly force. If someone is going to kill you, you have a right to kill them first. The only problem is attempting to prove it in court.

Hahaha, I would do the same. Or at least make it look like an accident.

I haven't been robbed before but i have been mugged, unfortunately for the mugger I have been taking martial arts for about two years and just started my Krav-Maga that week. He tried to choke me and basically knocked him out with a jaw hit. Since it was self defense i was let off completely and that happened in US so they are pretty lenient for self defense, but then again i didn't kill him. So for basic defense its fine but I'm not sure about killing.
