Think it'll eventually replace DVD/Bluray disks? Have like these little chips that you put into these chip-players and you can watch movies from them... shit would be so cash. Also cd/dvd readers wouldn't be needed so consoles and PC's would change too.
Since it's all so expensive atm, I don't see anything like that happening in the NEAR future, but maybe a decade or 2.

Mass production makes everything cheap.

Stuff made out of rare minerals suddenly being cheap because it's mass produced?

It is an excellent idea, but blueray and hd store more memory than cheap cards ex:4gb 8gb for about the same price.

also a lot of stuff is going to the cloud so maby chips and cd's will be ruled out all together and people will just download videos to an online storage and stream them via internet/+3G.

Not if it has a check that makes it confirm with a server source that its real. They would need some nice cracks for that. It only worked with MW2 for a short while remember.

Probably things would cease to exist as physical packages like Hero said, connections and disk space would be enough to allow things to simply be downloaded and played. However, if there had to be a physical package, then I'd say that eventually things may come on miniature ROM drives, like a sort of USB or flash card. Cheap, unerasable, and with USB 3.0, better read times.

Not to mention they're smaller. The size-to-memory ratio makes even Bluray disks look huge.

More so with the nanochips that Harvard managed to patch together recently.

Some people prefer to have immediate gratification, and a physical backup.
