On a side note, you can jailbreak iPhones and such allowing you to do whatever you want on the phone. (Which is currently still perfectly legal.) |
mine uses Android

Only if your device is below iOS 4.0.1 i think and I'm not sure if it works on the latest ipod touch models though.

You most likely won't be able to update using jailbreakme.com in the near future as the iOS .pdf bug they used has been patched after iOS 4.0.1. Unless another bug that insecure, you will have to jailbreak normally using the regular executable tools available from places such as the iPhone Dev Team.

Amen to that one brother, reading hex code in game saves levels etc on iphone or itouch is tedious as hell.
Best idea for looking and getting a start is by using comparison on 2 save files and see what the difference of them are after score change, lives etc. Then you can look at this one spot in hex.

You can do root-access if you have MobileTerminal. Just type su > alpine (unless you changed it) > and then run the application.

I don't have an Iphone or Itouch or whatever, so it really isn't that appealing to me.
What was MS?
you guys are talking about jailbreaking. How do you do something like that?
(i have a PSP)

Second jailbreaking is what people can do you to open your iPod up to more apps from cyder or something, but I'm not sure how you would go about a psp, I know you can with ps3 but if you are interested in it look up some YouTube tut.

Relax it stands for <don't break the word filter, i'll ban you next time>
Jailbreaking means to allow a device to bypass the manufacturer's protection against homebrew applications.
This also opens up doors to software that allows you to play "backups", in other words, games that have been copied.
It's possible with a PSP and PS3. You just need a certain firmware version and you're out of luck if you have a firmware version higher than the one required. Since christmas passed, it's now quite hard to find a PSP or PS3 with the right firmware, unless you get it second-hand from someone who didn't keep up with firmware updates.
For the PSP, you need whats called a Pandora battery, which is essentially a regular PSP battery with one of its external wires cut. For the PS3, you need a PS3 Key which is a USB dongle that activates some kind of debug-mode that allows the PS3 to function normally less the copy protection system.

You don't need a Pandora's battery for a PSP anymore, and the new ofw are insanely easy to JB as well. 6.37 is the latest for a PSP, don't think it's JB'd yet but up to 6.35 are, and easily with just a couple files.
