i did that, and for the second time pins broke off. I've read the motherboard book and made sure the triangle fits up.

then thats not the mobo you have. AM3 cores fit am3 mobos, obviously. You must not have an even am2 cpus fit am3 boards.

Thats an am3 board and an am3 cpu. am3 cpu's are also am2+ and many apps like cpuid will detect them as am2+. The difference is the supported ram and probably hyper transport I think. Any way that cpu should fir that board. Idk about pins breaking off though.

my motherboard has ddr3 ram, and it says am2+doesn't work ddr3, so i think it won't matter about ram, i have to get a am3 processor.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103817 is this a strong processor?

line up, gently drop it in. there is no force involved. if it doesn't just fall in then you are doing it wrong.

there's a triangle on the socket, and a triangle on the cpu. that is the orientation.
