My mom is clinically depressed. She is on medication and it is helping, but it isn't enough. She says that she considers committing suicide every morning when she wakes up and at night when she goes to bed, sometimes more than that. She has a loaded pistol in her closet that she looks at for a while before getting up.
She has some kind of hormonal imbalance.
This has been going on since my sister was born, about 18 years ago. It got really bad when our dog died. This, she says, was the 'Straw that broke the camel's back.'
So, before my mom offs herself, what do?
Are there any psychiatric that can help with hormonal imbalances?
Also, she doesn't have any insurance anymore. We have been having it rough these past years.

Well first off, move the gun to somewhere that she won't look, or accidentally find it.
But somewhere you won't forget, in the event you really do need to use it for it's real purpose.

Me thinks you've been jealous for the past 18 years because your parents paid much more attention to your sister. Then when your dog, which was your only friend that gave you a shred of attention, died, you cracked under the pressure of your world's loneliness. Now you're considering suicide and want psychiatric help, but instead of acknowledging that you have a problem, you hid it behind your mother's existence so that others wouldn't judge you.
