Well, my PC is rather underpowered when it comes to graphics.

I decided to wait until the 6000 series come out, and they are here. Looking at the prices, the HD 6870 is within my budget.

The HIS model looks pretty good.

So, is HIS a good brand? This is the cheapest I could find online for Australia, at $296AU.

I have a GTS 250 at the moment, so I know this will defiantly boost, but can my motherboard support it (I have a MSI-7522)?

HIS is fine, your motherboard is fine. However, I wouldn't immediately recomend the 6000 series, you should wait a little bit for amd to iron out the drivers, and any sort of defects, etc. The price is also always higher when they first come out.

Don't get HIS brand stuff.

Bad quality in my opinion.

It's all in the matter of brand preference now since none of the 6870 use non-reference design PCB and cooler anyway. They all cost around the same price give or take ~$10.

At first some of us may think the HD6850 and HD6870 the successor to HD5850 and HD5870, but in reality they're not. These guys are mid-range cards, but its performance (HD6870) along with its price is attractive.

They're mid-range because it only support 2 way CrossFire as it's only got 1 crossfire connector. HD5850 and HD5870 has 2 crossfire connectors.

Another interesting thing with the HD6000 series the use of MLAA, heard the next driver will support this on the HD5000 series as well.
No more Eyefinity edition cards. These guys can has two mini DP and has the ability run to 3 screens on each DP through a MST hub or MST dongles.

because the driver implementation just goes over the entire screen but besides that, it's super cheap and high quality and works on everything, transparency or not.

Well, I use 1920x1080, so it won't be that bad.
