What do you mean, the sound?
1.Break wood with your BEAR HANDS
2.Make a crafting table
3.Make a wodden pickaxe
4. Get stone
5. Make stone pickaxe
6. Have fun

Music happens sporadically.
Also, there's specific tools that break things faster.
Picks break stone/ores faster
axes break wood faster
shovels break dirt/sand/gravel faster.
Depending on the material used to make the tools, the faster it runs and the more durable it is. Some blocks require a certain material to break.
Read the wiki for more information.

Play on peaceful to practice, also, picks/axes etc.
