We already know this, the first socket 1567 server CPU came onto Newegg a while ago. I can picture the scene in 20 years:
"Herp Derp I got an 11 core Xeon X234986329 for the new LGA 2891! Too bad there's no motherboards for it."

How isn't it? They only posted pictures of it below an I7.

yes, why buy a faster processor that may cost a little more. the mainstream will probably be price competitive.

You're looking at the mainstream Sandy Bridge-DT, designed to replace the Clarkdale and Lynnfield (i3, i5, and low-end i7) processors. The performance "Sandy Bridge B2" will have 6-8 cores (+HT), 40 PCIe lanes (v3.0 support), much wider QPI interface (vs. the DMI on Sandy Bridge-DT), quadruple-channel RAM (not dual or triple, but 4), and 15MB of L3 cache on the 6 core model, 20MB on the 8-core model--according to Wikipedia. Oh, and no lame integrated GPU. It's likely that Intel will be adopting a new socket for it as well.

the benefit of the integrated GPU is that it does what a GPU does best, lots and lots of parallel, straightforward, non-branching computations.

not sure if this is what intel was going for with it though, but that's what AMD wants to push.
