| Sounds like an unstable install of windows. I have had this problem on XP. Reformat worked perfect.

it is enough to give this answer:
Buy a new harddisk , hd cable and/or disk controller, if formatting fails that means that either the disk is broken, or something inbetween

Most of the time they say something didn't work when instead they just did it completely wrong. If it did simply not work, then yeah his hard disk is likely broken.

This is most likely a power issue. Check to make sure the switch next to your power cable on the back of your computer is set to the right voltage. This also sounds like it could be a ram issue, but since you said opening it will void your warranty, i wouldn't mess with it. If all else fails, you should send it in for a new one.

Just last night, I made a discovery of some loose cords in my electrical socket (WHERE THE PLUG GOES). OMGWTFBBQ
