If a 5850 is better, how about 2 4870's? |

5850 + overclocking = surefire win.
multi-gpu is hardly guaranteed in terms of scaling, though if you already have 1 4850, then...

deppends what are you going to use your GPU for ..
the 4850 haves double Video memory than the 5850 (( which I dont really think makes sense but the specs says so )) with 2 you get 4 GB of Video Memory which helps a lot when you need to hold tons of data at the same time with GPU

Oh, that link is to a double configuration 4850. It's two gpu's in the same unit.

oh lol, I didn't check the x2
yeah anyways its 2GB of Video Memory against 1 GB of Video RAM
but the 5850 supports DX11 right?
I'm a real fan of this new DX11 tessellation ...
if you are going to use it for gaming, I would suggest you to buy the 5850

no, that's not how it works.
video ram is mirrored across multiple gpu's as the bandwidth required for them both to maintain their own instances would be enormous.

the 4850x2 performs slightly faster than the 5850 on average but i'd just get the 5850 as it's probably way more efficient plus it has dx11 support.
as for the space, i have the 922 and it's same length as it's brother the 932 so this shouldn't be an issue.
