Edit: 16:9 is indeed a shit resolution, it does nothing good unless all you do is watch movies. the "Full HD" ready thing is bullshit also. stick with 16:10, more workspace |

Sorry, I understand. I was just getting a bit annoyed that you were still talking about a monitor. As for the money, on top of the fact that I have plenty saved up (I'm good at saving) my grandfather, who's an electrical engineer, gets a considerable discount off a variety of computer stores, newegg included. I would never buy such an expensive computer otherwise. As for your thoughts on the monitor, seriously though, I think I'll stick with the one I picked. I hate really tiny pixel pitch, and I don't need giant resolution. 1920x1080 is giant for me, I never use big monitors.
And @Yuri, it looks like you're indeed correct. I'll change that.

It's not like buying a 1920x1080 monitor will force you to use that resolution, you can always use a lower one. And the Asus monitor I linked to is half an inch shorter than the one you suggested. I would recommend a 1080p monitor simply for doing something like watching a movie, or playing a lower requirements game. I play all source games in the highest resolution possible.
It's totally fine if you still want to keep the 1680x1050 monitor though. It's what I have and I agree that it's already more space than you really know what to do with. I'm just weighing out the situation so you can choose best for yourself. I mean, this'll be your computer after all. Your choice in the end.

I'd like to interject for a moment, lowering the resolution would cause the image to have "blur" effect and the glittering line if set on extreme low. 1080P is a bullshit gimmick, there are no visual difference to a 1680X1050, except for the extra 300,000 lines you'll be seeing.

I like what you're saying with the 16:10 ratio. I love 16:10. However, I am very most aware of the blurred pixels on lower res (you know how libraries and schools love to buy really nice, big lcd monitors and set them to 800x600?). Had I a giant moniter with inches to spare, I would absolutely center the desktop if I changed the resolution. |

If the cheapest 1920x1200 monitors weren't $250, I'd jump to 16:10 in a heartbeat. 16:9 is meant for television, viewing from a far distance. 16:10 is meant for computer monitors, at a close distance.

Are you meaning to say 1920x1080? That would be 16x9, 1920x1200 is 16x10. |

All the components here are a decent price, what made this rig expensive isn't because it's got a Xeon,but due to the case and the sound card.
The case cost nearly $200 cause the Cosmos series IMHO is one of the best in the CM line up, and since the board does not have a sound card, one is needed.
Why this board?
The position of the ram slot, normal desktop boards the ram are place in front of the CPU blocking precious cool air flow directly to the CPU. This board the ram are on place on the side and it's got a PCIe x8 to install the USB 3.0/SATA 6Gb/s card.
