This will sound like a homework question, but it's not. I just need some clearing up on a subject.

What is Coherentism and Foundationalism?

My book doesn't know how to define something without using the word in the definition.

I've tried reading this over and over, and i've learned the definitions by word, but I have yet to find the true meaning behind the flurry of repeated words that the book used.

Already looked through that.
Like in the book, it's defining something using the word that needs to be defined.

I'm looking for a definition that's easier to read and less confusing. I honestly don't understand this. Either i'm thinking too hard, or i'm not thinking enough, or maybe a mix of both. Either way, i read this and all i an say after i do is: "What?"

Edit:
I can somewhat understand Foundationalism. If i'm right, then it's the belief that things are correct/real simply because it's something commonly known and doesn't need to be proven that it's true because it's common sense.

As for Coherentism, i'm lost.

I'd start off with the basic dictionary definitions. Read multiple dictionaries for different perceptions. Then maybe simple wiki, then the full wiki. Reading the references listed is also valuable as they often flow better as being by a single author. I'm not familiar with these 2 subjects at the moment.

I'd assume based on the 'coherent' it would be about being understood easily. 'Foundation' is a bit vague, now I'm curious.
