Has anyone else noticed that schools/universities are starting to stop teaching C++ as the core langauge and are now teaching and moving to Java (no not javascript lol..)? They just switched here in WI.

Anyone else notice that in there area?

We're reaching an age where computer hardware are cheap and fast. Therefore there isn't a need for non VM languages like C or C++.

Yes, Java kernels are so common these days, C/C++ has just become obsolete

Some universities use Java to teach basic OOP, just as some universities will use Haskell to teach people basic functional programming. Java is used because it's a simple language - i.e. the student can focus on how the objects interact instead of how they are implemented.
