That means that the people who are taking care of the retard could be spending THAT TIME to do something productive, instead of counterproductive.

Again, you're not getting the big picture here.
That's not helping the economy by taking care of retards. It's helping against the economy because that's not a real job.
Sure, companies rehire when they lose a worker, but that doesn't change the fact that now there is another individual that is doing nothing, being counter productive. The government's altruism and 'morals' make them take care of those people as well. Where the hell do you think the national debt is coming from? Retards, generally. |
What? Any jobs help the economy. Also arguably, they help the economy, because the family must consume more. We are not arguing what a government does, otherwise, compare how much money is spent in military hardware, and how much is spent in helping and setting up awareness campaigns. Uncontrolled and unregulated spending in research and military sectors.

You are looking from two very different stand points. They give jobs and force user consumption of possibly expensive material. From an economic stand point, they actually can be considered helpful in some cases (to a degree, in the cases were they cause bankruptcy or the family members to have to quit their jobs, they become harmful). From an ethical stand point, you cannot kill them because they are human, even though they cause a lot of family suffering.

If society would toss away morals in favor of advancement, we'd be much better off. |
