Most win32 packet sniffers are picked up as a "harmful" threat to your computer, not as a virus.

Most are safe, google next time.

No. If you look at the description your AV classifies it as, you'll see it is described as a "hacking tool," or something similar. CE is often classified the same way, which is why this thread was created.

The reason why AVs don't want you to have stuff like that is because you can do bad stuff with it, but nothing bad can happen to you from it (unless you somehow use it to delete your own system's core files, which I'm not sure you could even do with a packet editor).
